Verona, Italy in One Day

When I visited Verona, Italy I did a day trip from Venice.  It’s not too far away.  I wanted to be able to leave my luggage at the hotel, instead of having to figure out what to do with it.  The trains ended up being the same price as if I would have gotten a hotel in Verona and then went onto Rome from there.  Sometimes I just get tired of switching hotels too often.

I was able to see a great deal of the city in one day.  I really loved this city.  It’s super beautiful and underrated.  This is where you can find of a lot of Shakespeare sites.  There is also a big beautiful garden called Giusti Garden.  You can see Castelvecchio and take the cable car up the mountain for an amazing view.  Here are all of the things that I did and saw during my one day in Verona, Italy.  Of course there are tons of other things to see in Verona, this is just what I did.

Verona Arena-is a Roman amphitheater that is still in use.

Torre dei Lamberti-Medieval tower build in 1172

Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore-The church that Romeo and Juliet were married in (based on the fictional story)

One of the super intricate doorways of the Basilica

Juliet’s House-You don’t have to pay to see the balcony.  You can just walk into the courtyard.

Arco dei Cavi-Massive marble arch

Castelvecchio-This is an old castle, turned museum.  You can visit the museum or just walk around the outside of the castle.

Just a big, fancy door.

Giusti Garden was a highlight of Verona for me.  It’s a large, beautiful garden that sits on a hill.

Q.B. Gelato-This was the best gelato that I had in all of Italy.  The flavors were so fun and the consistency was perfect.  I got grape wine and prickly pear.

Funicolare di Castel San Pietro-This is a cable car that goes up the mountain for great views.  There is also a bar at the top.
